About The Hope Foundation
Charity Number: 13237
The Hope Foundation (HOPE) is an Irish charity supporting overseas development and tackling humanitarian issues in India. HOPE provides support to children and their families living on the streets and in the slums of Kolkata, formerly known as Calcutta.
About The Hope Foundation
Over 250,000 children are forced to exist on the streets and in the slums of Kolkata, hungry without shelter or protection. The Hope Foundation (HOPE) was established in 1999 by Irish Humanitarian Maureen Forrest to help these children.
Over the past 16 years, HOPE has extended its support and now provides a holistic approach to development which includes working with the children, their families and the community. Working with 14 local Indian NGOs on the ground in Kolkata, HOPE currently reach out to tens of thousands of people each year through over 60 projects in four key areas:
- Child protection, including 10 residential child protection homes;
- Education, including 40 education centres;
- Healthcare, including the HOPE Hospital which conducted 168 surgeries in 2014; and
- Vocational Training, including training programmes offering places in computers, tailoring, and service industry training.
HOPE also provides drug rehabilitation, anti-trafficking programmes and a human hand to hold in difficult times.
All the money raised and donated will go to the children in Kolkata. The support of Property Race Day Ireland will make a tremendous difference to these lives of the children. In 2014, the HOPE provided shelter, education and support to 2,268 children who would otherwise have remained vulnerable on the streets. Helping the children is not possible without the immense generosity and kindness of HOPE supporters such Property Race Day Ireland.
